Local Red Jasper Taconite - Tumble Tower

Taconite, also known as Gunflint Jasper has been historically used for knapping and stone tool production with early peoples of the region. Found primarily in Thunder Bay and the surrounding area. 

A low grade iron ore mixed with red jasper, Taconite jasper's energy is very grounding. The iron oxides found in this stone, such as hematite and magnetite, draw a gentle and consistent energy directly from the earth, having a steadying and calming effect. Traditionally used for flintknapping to make arrowheads and projectiles, artifacts have been found in the Thunder Bay Area from early indigenous peoples who originally lived off the land.
