Mood Rings - Bands
Solid band style mood rings. Sizes 5-9.
How they work:
Mood rings contain thermochromic liquid crystals inside a stone or band.
- The liquid crystals change their molecular structure in response to temperature changes, which alters the wavelengths of light they reflect and causes the color to shift.
-
When a person experiences strong emotions, their body's temperature can change.
- During stress or nervousness, blood flow is directed toward the internal organs and away from the extremities, causing the fingers to feel cooler and the ring to turn a darker color.
- When excited or passionate, more blood flows to the extremities, increasing the finger's temperature and causing the ring to shift to warmer tones.
- The color of a mood ring can also be influenced by the ambient temperature, making it a more reliable indicator of temperature than emotion.
